Cross country Ski with Pulka Tour Finland – Norway – Reisadalen
With backcountry skis and a pulka, we walk from Finland and Norway in the Reisavalley

The Itinerary
Arrival
Once you’ve landed in Tromsø, we’ll meet you at the airport and take you to base camp. A hot dinner will be waiting for us there, during which we’ll discuss the route and the kit. If you’d like to have a sauna one last time before we leave civilisation behind for six days, you’ll have the chance to do so with us.
Strap on your skis and off we go!
The next day, we’ll meet for breakfast together, then we’ll kit you out with everything you need and drive to the starting point together. On arriving in Kilpisjärvi, Finland, we hold a final safety briefing before strapping on our skis, attaching the pulka and setting off. The trail takes us eastwards. We’ve arrived right in the heart of the fjell and can enjoy the stunning scenery. The trail takes us across frozen lakes through the almost treeless landscape.
Before we leave the snowmobile trail and walk to the north, we pitch our tents.

One last night in Finland
After our last night in Finland, and a good breakfast and a good cup of coffee, we pack up our things and set off towards the Norwegian border. The path takes us along a river to a lake that’s already on the Norwegian side. Just past the border, we look for a suitable spot where we can pitch our camp, sheltered from the wind.

Off we go to the tent with the stove
After breakfast, we set off again, refreshed and full of motivation; a tent awaits us in the evening, complete with a stove and firewood already prepared.
The plateau, which is rather flatter higher up, might offer the odd glimpse of the valley before we reach our ‘gamme’. This is a tent with a stove inside. In the evening, we can sit in front of the warm stove, dry a few items of clothing and soak up some warmth.

Day trip / Spare day
If the weather has been kind to us by then, we’ll go on a day hike on that day. The length of the hike depends a little on the group, but we’ll walk between 15 and 20 km. With a bit of luck, we’ll enjoy the sun and the lovely weather. Should we be unlucky with the weather on a particular day, or if we don’t make much progress for other reasons, we’ll use that day as a buffer day.
15-20 km
The last day on Skier
After a hearty breakfast of ‘magic porridge’ and a coffee, tea or hot chocolate, we head up a slope before the mighty Reisatal valley stretches out before us. On the final stretch, we may need to take off our skis and walk a few metres. Very experienced skiers can also try their luck and make it down unscathed.
In the evening, after a hot shower, we can warm up properly in the sauna and look back on the week.

Leaving Day
It’s time to say goodbye; on the final morning, we’ll take you to the bus and you’ll head back to Tromsø. Once you arrive there, you can head straight to the airport, or try a Norwegian speciality at one of the local restaurants.
The details of the tour
A 6 + 2-day backcountry ski tour from Kilpisjärvi, through the northernmost part of Finland, to Norway’s Reisatal valley.
On this ski tour, we’ll be skiing, sleeping in tents and looking forward to a warm stove to keep us cosy and on which we can cook a hot soup. This tour is just the thing for those who enjoy being outdoors, want to give winter camping a go and like to keep active.
During the ski-pulka tour, we’ll be sleeping in tents, including two nights in a heated group tent, where a wood-burning stove will keep us warm. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, we’ll enjoy delicious yet easy-to-prepare meals. The tour can only work as a team, and only if everyone gives their best and we support one another. That’s exactly when it becomes a real adventure, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
